What have you done to your truck today?
I wish!
I bought it for my wife as a reward for surviving her dentist visit. It was a sad, sad day.
I fixed my parking brake issue this afternoon. The tension / adjusting mechanism was so rusty, the adjusting nut wouldn't budge and the cable was loose. I pulled the whole contraption off, media blasted it and cleaned up all the threads. Put it back on, adjusted slicker than 10 slick things. Job done.
The truck has a weird cleaner / strawberry smell.. I hate to say it, but I kind of like it..
Next jobs:
Idle Stop (anti-dieseling solenoid) - it should be here on 10/27
Replace Driver Door Card - it is due on 10/28 (I attempted to repair the original but it's just too torn up)
Stereo install and 2m radio install
Then I can get back to the engine project and maybe even the '63 over the winter.
I did take the old girl (truck not wife) out for a drive yesterday; had to try out the new seats. With the new steering gear, steering shaft and dampener and of course the new seats, she's like a new girl. Fun to drive and doesn't fight with me. (kinda of like my wife before we were married..)
I'm sure I'll pay for that one..

Yup. And vent window is quarterlight. Gasoline is petrol. Dashboard is fascia. Muffler is silencer. Tachometer is rev counter. Cowl is scuttle. And on and on. In the time I spent there I had many conversations regarding automobiles wherein I discovered I didn't know what they were saying.
I really screwed up this morning. I have a new tank and sending unit to put in. After my son finished his hockey game (25 - 5 win, 2-0 as a goalie), I got to work. The weather here is beautiful and I have been waiting all week to get it done. Got the new tank in and almost done when I noticed a slight crack in the end of the filler hose, so I trimmed it back. Too damn much. No one around here stocks the hose, so I had to order a new one from LMC. Tank is out again, and I am sure by next weekend it will be raining and cold out there. I learn every lesson the hard way, but at least I enjoyed the hockey.
So after having my truck for about a month now i'm finally getting some stuff done. She runs again . Replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, advanced the timing, changed the oil, and topped off the transmission and it's like a whole new truck. I was going to rebuild the carburetor but I decided against it for the time being since I've never done it and it's my only vehicle right now, but there's still a slight hesitation when accelerating from a dead stop, so I might actually have to just take a day to commit to taking it all apart. Still gotta fix the speedometer, but Ulysse is working for now.
Those posts from yesterday make me realize how many of our (New Zealand) automotive terms have come out of the UK vs US.
Here, fenders are guards (originally 'mudguards'), wrenches are spanners, pilot bearings are spigot bearings, plug wires are plug leads etc etc etc
..........along with a correct driver seating position
