'96 e250 codes?
So a couple weeks ago I got some codes for my van. It's a 5.8l v8, automatic. It was starting to have a studder and would die as I coasted to a stop. I didn't get the numbers but the descriptions were:
o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1
pw sensor bank 2 sensor 2
EGR flow insufficient
DPFE monitor low voltage
So I replaced the dpfe, found out the ref line was clogged, tried to clean it out with carb cleaner but didn't work. I couldn't get the egr valve off or the pipe from the egr valve to the exhaust manifold (long story). So when I tried the 2nd time I used some seafoam in the ref line to break the carbon off. I don't know if it worked yet but it did lead me to do the seafoam clean(1/2 bottle in manifold, 1/2 in oil, and 1 bottle in fuel tank)
After driving off the seafoam for about 15 minutes (no more smoke) I drove to advance and got codes again since my van was still diying at idle(but not as often, not sure it that was seafoam still in manifold or still same problem) the codes I got where...
p0171 bank 1 running lean
p0174 bank 2 running lean
So where do I go now? Advance auto guy suggested fuel filter or spark plugs and google. I plan to do the plugs and oil change in about 50-100 miles because of the seafoam

As far as your O2 sensors go, Bank 1 is closest to cylinder 1 (passenger side) Bank 2 is opposite side. (Ford numbered their motors V6 and V8 all the same, number 1 is always front passenger side. And then right in order straight back 1, 2, 3, 4 then driver side 5, 6, 7, 8)
Sensor 1 would be BEFORE the catalytic converter and 2 would be AFTER the cat.

Drivingmad44: You think I should just clean those 2 sensors?
I haven't checked fuel pressure yet. The van dies at idle when cold and idles rough when warm. Runs nice while driving. I was told on another forum to clean or replace the maf sensor. I would think that if fuel pressure was low it would hesitate all the time right?

from what I remember, if you get codes 171 AND 174 together it COULD be a MAF sensor. But, there are other things that could give a "false" code too. and you said you had O2 codes as well correct? Cleaning O2 sensors isn't really cost effective, they're cheap enought usually to just go ahead a replace 'em. If you have an AUTOZONE near you, they offer I believe a 1 yr warranty. Keep track of your purchase date and just swap 'em out every year, tell them there defective and they just hand you a new one.
I do that with my brake pads, don't know how they can afford to do it but they give LIFETIME warranty of pads, shoes, hell - even clutches!
