As all off the diesels have gotten more complicated an having to meet EPA guidlines the relaibility ratings have dropped for all makes. I remember so well all the smog regualtions on gas motors before fuel injection. There was so much crap on the carbureators that the trucks would not run anymore. I believe all diesel without any pollution controls off any kind would be fool proof.. But thats in the past an we have to face the future.Resale values will be fine for the 6.0. The new 6.4 will priced so much higher then the 6.0 that any leftovers will be sold. A great marketing plan. Lets hope that the new diesels are all trouble free for all the money we spend on them.

That's fact. $50-$55 USD for a new PSD Crew is a lotta money. When you think about it, there are Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW owners running around that paid less for their rides (but probably wouldn't believe it).

My F-350 XL Super cab with a stick can be purchased on the road for around US$63k....
I really think you guys should stop whinging.
(fortunately luxury cars aren't much cheaper, you could get a base 325i or C230 for that...)
Even the infamous Pontiac GTO manages to get shipped half way around the world and be HALF what we pay for it here.
Admittedly our closest variant with the LS2 comes with much better suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres, but still...

The thing I like best about GM 3/4 and 1 tons is how the tiny half shafts on the front end snap like twigs or the aluminum diff cracks when running big tires. Notice I used the phrase "front end" ? I have to because there is no front axle on the Chevy or GMC.
My Super Duty has a Dana 60 right from the factory, just like a real 1 ton should have.

funny i have not seen a snapped CV yet. it isn't the bigger tires, it is if you run an extreme lift. i know guys running a lot of hp at the truck pulls and never seen a snapped CV let alone a broken aluminum diff. the only broken cv i have heard of was a guy running huge tires and a lift, then went and pulled his truck at the truck pulls.
the only weak link i have seen on a gm is the tierod ends. but if you could further enlighten me i would greatly appreciate it.

I think you'll have to go to the "Your CP" link at the top of the page right under the thread title. If not post to a moderator they should be able to help you out. Glad to see you have come around and decided to get a real truck, many refuse to! BTW Congrats on your F550 purchase!

Wow I can't belive this thread is still going, Ford or chevy blah blah blah. They both build a nice truck I work on chevys all day long and I drive a ford, 92 f150 4x4 5.0 5speed.
The whole debate has gone on for years and years, I may not be the oldest or wisest being 21, but even I have realized as long as its American. These two companies arn't doing all that well, look at our Diamler Chrysler brand they don't want to be considered American anymore or a part of the big 3, when I'm driving down the road I see alot of forigen vehicles thats the big picture. When that problem is resolved then this debate can go on, but for now I seen on couple diffren't channels when I was watching the news only like 44% of the people in the u.s would buy a u.s vehicle.
Just my 2cents, carry on

I think that if he was happy with his truck and confident that he made the right decision, he wouldn't be wasting his time trying to convince us of anything.
When a man is right, he doesn't waste time trying to convince other people of anything.
