Watch the Australians Torture Test the Ford Ranger!
With recent news of the Ford Ranger and Bronco being confirmed by the UAW 900 Chairman, Bill Johnson, we’re all pretty pumped up and anxious to see exactly what the American version of the mighty truck might bring.
Until all the dust settles between Ford, the UAW, and even Donald Trump, we won’t know any more specifics on the hot pair, which means we may have to satiate our hunger for the Ranger by looking at Australia’s best-selling midsize truck.
In the awesome video below titled “Air Mail” by Ford Australia, we can see the Ranger’s adaptive load control, dynamic stability control and rollover mitigation systems being put through a torture test. How? A 2,036 kilogram load (approximately 4,488 lbs.) is dropped on the truck’s bed while it’s cruising at speed.
A sudden change in load, balance and weight can severely and instantaneously alter handling, so this is one way to make sure all the high-tech safety systems respond the way they should when needed.
