We reported late last week that a strike deadline was approaching at the Kansas City Ford F-150 and Transit plant because management and the UAW could not reach an agreement on a new contract.

Let’s talk about sport utility vehicles for a minute. Ford sells a bunch of them, and lately they’ve been growing at some of the fastest rates of the entire company.

In a new video, Ford delves into the development of the 2017 GT. We also get some never-before-seen footage of the supercar’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine on the dyno. And best yet, we get to revel at a prototype rocketing around Sebring for a first test.

While we only have a few scant details, we know that the next generation Ford Super Duty pickups will go with an aluminum body design, similar to that used on the new Ford F-150.

As we reported earlier in the week, there’s a chance that the Kansas City truck plant, which makes the aluminum-bodied Ford F-150, might strike this weekend if the UAW and management aren’t able to reach an agreement on their current contract negotiations.

We have now seen the future of the Ford lineup of pickup trucks (unless there’s a Ranger in the works) with the redesigned 2015 Ford F-150 and the redesigned 2017 Ford Super Duty.
