1. Not Just for Truck Beds Anymore

Line-X coatings are one of the more popular spray-in bed liners on the market. These tough finishes resist scratches, provide a better grip so your stuff (and you) doesn't slide around, and they hold up pretty well against most everything you can throw at or in them. So it would only make sense that this kind of coating might also work well on the outside of a truck, too. Enter the 2017 Line-X Widebody Raptor.

2. Tough and Attractive

Line-X teamed up with custom car and concept vehicle builder Kenny Pfitzer to turn a normal 2017 Ford Raptor into something worthy of showing off at the 2017 SEMA show. But the real star of the build is the paint, which is actually Line-X's latest Ultra coating. The thin, low-profile spray looks much more like real paint than your average spray-on bed liner material with its smooth finish. And yet, Line-X claims that it's 15 times stronger than standard thin film coatings.

3. Showing Off

Of course, anybody can spray a truck in one solid color and call it a day. But Line-X was determined to show off the versatility of its Ultra product. So on went a series of graphics to accentuate the "burnt ember" base color. All of the colors used on the truck were custom creations of the mad scientists in the Line-X lab, just like every other hue they offer.

4. More Than Just a Pretty Face

Line-X could have just painted a stock Raptor and called it a day, but that wouldn't really be typical of a SEMA build. Which is where Pfitzer and his new Zero to 60 Designs design shop come into play. A host of prototype Truck Gear by Line-X parts was fabbed and installed, including the bumpers and side steps. To make this a true "widebody," the quarter panels and fenders were custom machined to make this beast a full six inches wider than a stock Raptor.

5. The Magic Underneath

To make this Raptor perform as good as it looks, Pfitzer went to work on the suspension of the already formidable Raptor. He installed a host of goodies including Fox Factory Race Series shocks, Brembo Type 3 GT brakes, and Camburg Kinetik billet upper control arms. A MagnaFlow exhaust gives the Ecoboost V6 a beefier sound, and a full leather interior swaddles the driver and passengers in comfort. All of which should give anyone the confidence to drive this special Raptor anywhere. Without having to worry about little things like scratches.
