Love at First Sight

Sure, we love our modern day trucks as much as anybody. And we obviously love our old stuff, too. But what about trucks like those Ford built back in the '90s? The 9th generation F-Series pickups don't get as much love as those from the '70s or earlier, but we certainly haven't forgotten about them, and the mere sight of this incredible '96 F-150 at GAA Classic Cars got our collective hearts racing.

Time Warp

But that's what happens when you come across a gem of a pickup that has a mere 33k miles on the odometer. Everything about this F-150 looks pretty much brand new, and it's a total time warp for those of us that owned/wanted to own one of these 20+ years ago.

Simply Perfect

The finish and paintwork are simply perfect. Heck, we couldn't find any evidence that this thing has any miles at all, and that's not easy to do when you're talking about a black truck, the color most notorious for showing any imperfection.

Nicely Trimmed

It's a nicely optioned pickup, however, with XLT trim and a plush red cloth interior, which was pretty much top of the line back in the day. But if you've ever sat in one of these bad boys, you already know that it's pretty darn comfy despite the lack of fancy amenities.

Fair Weather Cruiser?

All the original goodies are intact, too, including those rather attractive wheels. We're betting that somebody's grandpa bought this thing new and stored it away, driving it only on nice days and maybe a few weekends here and there.

Just Getting Started

Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, grandpa's loss is our gain. Today, it nets us a look at something you just don't see every day. Most of these trucks have been driven hard for many, many miles, but this one's just getting started.

Unkillable Combo

Under the hood, you'll find Ford's legendary 4.9-liter, 300 cubic-inch inline-six. As much as we like our 5.0s, we'd actually almost rather have that unkillable little motor if we had the option to pick or choose a truck from this era.

Sight for Sore Eyes

Heck, this thing even has a manual transmission. Talk about something we miss having the option to buy in an F-150. But 20 years ago, plenty of people had that option and they took full advantage of it.

The Right Stuff

Yes, this '96 F-150 is probably our idea of the perfect 9th gen pickup. It has the right colors, the right engine, the right transmission, and even the right wheelbase and cab/bed configurations. Does it really get any better than that?
