Daily Slideshow: 2017 Ford F-250 Is the Anti-SEMA Build

There's nothing flashy about this Super Duty build, including the lift. But it's ready to do some work, regardless!

Built to Use

Most folks around here tend to decry anything that's jacked up, fitted with big wheels, and polished to a shine. After all, trucks are supposed to be trucks, they say. Anything worthy of shows like SEMA is essentially out, a waste of a truck and a whole pile of cash. So when we ran across this brand new F-250 build over at Truck Trend, it proved rather refreshing. This isn't some crazy pickup built only to grab attention. In fact, it's a well-thought-out, well-sorted, and very much usable Super Duty.

Modest Intentions

The crew at LGE-CTS Motorsports started out with little more than a brand new truck and a plan. And that plan was to take a brand new, 2017 Ford F-250 and fit it with a lift, new bumpers and grille, custom wheels and tires, an upgraded interior, and some of their own in-house fenders. Instead of doing some kind of massive lift, they settled with a modest 2.5-inch Icon Vehicle Dynamics kit complete with everything you need to add some extra altitude.

Raise It Up

The crew quickly got to work removing all the stock parts destined for the bin. Icon's lift kit is a little different from your average setup, arriving with not only coilovers and shocks, but an adjustable track bar and dual front stabilizer kit. Fitting the parts was a pretty easy task, but the sway bar links must be disconnected to lower the axle so the old coilovers can come out. The coil spring centering cup also has to be removed to make room for the new pieces.

The Right Stance

Though modest compared to many of today's lifts, the 2.5-inch kit looks great on this Super Duty. Especially with a new and aggressive set of rolling stock in the form of 20x12 S.O.T.A. Offroad Novakane 8 wheels (in "Death Metal" finish) wrapped in 38/15.50R20 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires. And the bed-mounted spare is a nice touch that you don't see too often, either.

Pleasing the Masses

At this point, the Super Duty is completely finished, sans the LGE-CTS Baja Forged fiberglass fenders and bedsides, which will be installed in the coming months. The mildly customized Ford F-250 is a great example of just how much you can improve the looks of these trucks without going completely overboard or sacrificing driveability. Heck, it should even appease the hardcore truck crowd, and that's really saying something!
