Ford F150: How to Replace Turn Signal Bulbs

The turn signals in your Ford F-150 are there for a reason: to let people know you're about to turn. Not using your turn signals when you're turning or changing lanes can result in an accident. If your turn signal light bulb has gone bad, replacing it is crucial to your safety on the road. Although replacing the bulb is as simple as it gets, getting to it can be a bit challenging. We wrote this guide for you to show you how to get to your turn signal bulb, replace it, then install everything back in place. Ford F150: How to Replace Turn Signal Bulbs

Materials Needed

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Socket
  • Turn signal light bulb

Step 1 – Remove rubber seal

Before removing the headlight, you have to remove the rubber seal covering the lower bolt. The rubber seal is held in place by one plastic Phillips screw, simply remove the screw, then fold the rubber seal away from the headlight.

Step 2 – Remove headlight

The headlight is held in place by three bolts. The first bolt is on the inside of the headlight, which was covered by that rubber seal, the second and third bolts are on top of the headlights. Remove all three bolts, then pull the headlight straight out to remove.

Step 3 – Replace turn signal bulb

Remove the headlight, then disconnect the electrical connections from it. Locate the turn signal bulb, then turn it half a turn counterclockwise to remove. The bulb will come out with the assembly, separate the bulb from the assembly by pulling it straight out, apart from the assembly. To install the new bulb, press it into the assembly, then install the assembly onto the headlight and turn it clockwise for half a turn. Connect the electrical harnesses, then install the headlight back in place. Tighten the three bolts, then tighten the rubber seal's screw in place.

Step 4 – Replace tail light turn signal

If you need to replace the tail light turn signal bulb, remove the two bolts on the inside of the tail light, then pull the tail light off. Remove the turn signal bulb and install the new one in place.
