Ford F150: How to Install Step/Nerf Bars

Materials Needed

  • 13mm wrench
  • 13mm socket
  • Nerf bars

Step 1 – Align the nerf bars

The driver's side nerf bar would have the sharper curve on the back. Hook the bar on your rocker panel, and to ensure it's aligned properly, the bracket attached to your bar should go over the two holes—a small hole right on top of a big hole.

Step 2 – Install nuts

The bars come with special nuts that go through the hole, which allows you to screw your bolt right in place. Attach the nuts to the top holes, you will have to clip it through the bottom hole. Install the U-nuts onto all the holes.

Step 3 – Tighten bar in place

For each bracket, there should be two bolts installed. One bolt goes into the U-nut you've installed, and the other bolt goes from the bottom up, and is attached to a washer and a nut. Install the two bolts on each bracket and tighten the bar down.
