My truck only has low beams. When you move the stalk on the colum backwords it changes nothing, when you move it forwards the low beams go out but the high beams do not come on.
Before I change the $60 switch, is there anything else it could be?
The "flash-to-pass" position on the multifunction switch lights the high beam elements without turning off the low beam elements. The switch is likely not the problem based on your description. Check the bulbs and fuses. I don't mean to overstate the obvious, but sometimes the obvious gets overlooked.
What are the details of your truck? Someone may have a wiring diagram they can post.
I get power to the light on low beam but not on high, and when I switch it back and forth from high to low to high again it sounds like the contactor is messed up inside. Not the normal noise I am used to them making. Any Ideas before I drop $96 on one?
pull your steering column apart and check the wiring into the switch. there is a zip tie on the wiring harness an inch or two back from the switch, sometimes it is to tight and pulls on the connector at the switch (like my truck and pulls the harness out ) it made my high beams not work, when i found it it had almost caught on fire, all burnt fixed it up and have not had a problem in four years.
