Will 1997-2003 F150 wheels fit a 1992-1996?

Hi. I just bought another F150 (1993). I am interested on putting newer style OEM wheels on it. Does anyone know if the 1997-2003 5 lug wheels will fit the older 1992-1996 F150s?

No, they will not fit your '93.

Thanks. IIRC, Dodges and Jeeps have the same 5 X 5.5 bolt pattern as the '92-'96 Fords. However, I understand that the center bore is different. It's frustrating that Ford has decided to change the lug spacing so much over the past 10 years.

I have looked at the adapter plates online. (I was even considering using 6-lug wheels from a '04-'09 since there are so many take offs available from new trucks). But the adapters cost more than the wheels!

Guess I'll have to think about this some more . . .

$50-75 per adapter

and at newtakeoffs.com you can get brand new 04-08 F-150 6 lug wheels with tires for under $800

I'll dig up a couple links when I get home. The adapters aren't that expensive anymore.

Thanks for the link to the bolt patterns. Tylus, the prices I've seen on-line for adapters run around $129 per wheel. Best price I've seen is $159 per pair IIRC. If you do have a link or two with better prices I will be grateful. I haven't checked every site, but the several I did visit seemed to be pretty consistent price-wise.

Has anyone had experience with adapters? Any strength/breakage issues on pickups?

They fit with little modifing and different lug nuts. Have to open holes up some on the outer edge. I had a set of 00 Expedtion rims on my 94 before finding a set of 93 lightning rims. Have to get lugs for an older f-250 , the ones with the flat washers on them.

Mike, Wow, that looks really sharp with the Expedition rims. (Obviously the Lightning rims look great, too) Pretty much the look I was wanting to achieve! I just haven't seen many aftermarket rims that I like. I would prefer that my truck ends up looking like it could have been factory. Are those Expedition rims 17"s? Tires are 275s maybe? Did they fit the wheel opening ok? Do they self center on the center hole/hub, or do you need to be exact when modifying the bolt holes to keep the wheel concentric?

80-96 F-150 has 5x139.7 lug setup
97-03 F-150 has 5x135 lug setup

FORD WHEEL ADAPTERS

should give them a call. They seem to have a huge selection and most are $44 to 58 per adapter

there are several people running these with the 04+ trucks in the usual area I hang out on FTE and another forum. They haven't had any problems. Add to the fact that trucks like my F-150 is about 6,000 lbs

I'm not a huge fan of them, but they serve a purpose. I think you'd be just fine as long as you aren't doing hardcore offroading, or drag strip applications.

Whatever you choose, get an adapter that has 2 different sets of lugs. Wheel Spacers are dangerous since they stress the lug bolts

Thanks for the help Tylus.
I've already checked their site. They do have a big selection. Their 4 lug to 4 lug, and 5 lug to 5 lug adapters are in the price range you describe. Their 5 lug to 6 lug adapters run about $100 per corner, but unfortunately they didn't list a 5x5.5 (139.7) to a 6 x 135 option on their site. I thought that was odd, actually.

I will call them directly next week and talk about options.

Those Expedtion rims are the 16's and they centered on the hubs not by the lugs... The tires are 265/70/16's....

here is a picture with the lightning rims and suspension,,,,

Little different question.

While y'all are on the subject, The only difference between the wheels on 2003 and 1999 F-150's is the lug sizes. 99 is 12x1.75, 03 is 14x2. Will wheels for a 99 fit on a 03 without messing with the lug holes in the wheel?
