Ford Part Number Needed
I am attempting to change the oil in it and when I took the old canister style filter out, the small coil spring was missing. I've read where it's really not a good idea to run the motor without that spring in place.
Is there any way someone can look that up for me and tell me what the ford part number is for that spring?
I have the master parts catalog in cd form, but for some reason it stopped working.
I'm thinking the reader in my pc died because it was working before.
It's a big help sometimes finding parts when you have the original ford part number.
Spring = B2A-6889-A
Here's more discussion on this spring:

And RearCounter indicates that Dennis Carpenter has one, though I don't see it on their site.
None at eBay.
A spring there is absolutely necessary, or the filter won't filter. I don't think the spring must be OEM, though. Probably less stiff than a valve spring but more than a door closer spring would work OK.
Washer ("retainer") = B2A-6298-A
This washer does need to fit the center tube fairly well, or the seal will blow out around the tube and some oil will bypass the filter. I don't see that number come up anywhere, but just be aware that if you fabricate one, the OD is probably not critical but the ID sort of is.
The two sealing washers for the top & bottom of the filter cartridge are supposed to come with the new filter. As is the large rubber seal for the canister housing.

Group buy?

That's not an awful price in USD, if the tariff (and esp. shipping) doesn't triple the cost.
Same part numbers for Y-blocks, so there ought to be some around.
