You only get extra power, etc when you install a tune.
One other thing to have is the blue spring upgrade on the fuel pressure regulator - helps preserve injector life to keep fuel pressure over 45 psi (hopefully you had the upgraded spring installed).
It is HIGHLY recommended to install a pressure gauge on the fuel supply also!
Did you have the heads o-ringed?

I am not sure what you were told about the outcome but it will be your same truck but more dependable if put together CORRECTLY.
I am curious about your cylinder heads and where they were obtained new or if your were original machined, were they o-ringed?
Sensors are not cheap (ICP,IPR) so if they're not broken why replace them?
What was wrong with the FICM since it is new and what condition are your injectors in? A bad FICM ruins injectors so were they replaced or deemed ok?

There’s also a risk when handling any 20 year old connector or wire bundle.
I maintain my own vehicle on most repairs, but found myself an absolute clutz with the 6.0.
Example was losing orings on the ground with the blue spring upgrade. Then installing it wrong so it leaks.
So, if you have a good track record with diesel repairs and you are not missing a rent payment or food, or going deep on debt could be a good choice.
IMO there are only two HPOP's to consider - DieselSite and CNCFab. I know the HPOP isn't cheap, but if the engine is being worked on that deep anyway, it sounds like the right time.
IMO, the wiring issues that the 5.0L engine suffered from came from several sources:
- rubs and stress from routing issues
- excessive engine heat
The IPR is a toss up. With so few miles on it, I would tend to say just keep it.
Has the screen under the oil cooler been inspected or replaced? That is another thing to consider (there is an upgrade to that also).
Glad the heads are o-ringed!!!
It would be good to know what shop is doing the work!!
Lastly, I believe that upgrading the original FICMs (at CircuitBoardMedics or FICMRepair.com) will give you better reliability than buying a new one (and it is cheaper). You went another direction and I hope it works well for you. What happened to the original FICM, did you keep it?
I will put another plug in for the installation of a fuel pressure gauge - EVERYONE needs it!
Hopefully the EGR cooler was from BulletProofDiesel!!! It is the ONLY one I would trust for 2004.5+.
MAKE SURE to charge the batteries and then individually load test them. These engines need good power supply!!! Lots of people upgrade alternators also. Something to consider when you get enough funds.
