I have a 1994 Ford F350 with a 5.8 that I’m trying to get running. Has had the same gas in the tanks for 10 years and was running rough with a moderate load. I suspected fuel problems so I drained both tanks, replaced both fuel pumps and filter. Checked fuel pressure at the rail and it was 30-40psi. Decided to change the fuel injectors as well. Still running rough. Changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, ignition module and coil. Still running rough but not throwing any codes. It started leaking at the oil cooler so I removed the cooler, installed new lower hose and installed Napa 1515 filter. Leak fixed. Then I noticed the EGR valve not functioning. Ordered a new valve, position sensor, and vacuum regulator (which was shorted) and haven’t installed yet. Have not checked the timing and advance yet.
Then I noticed this small part on down on the frame close to the oil filter. Knowing everything I replaced, does anybody recognize this part? I’m thinking the ignition advance isn’t working and this part has a function. Any help from the group would be appreciated.
Agree that’s what it looks like but nothing other than what I mentioned above was replaced. After looking around again today, because of where it was, thought it may be something from the steering shaft, but don’t think so. Still fighting this fuel or ignition problem and was hopeful this may have been a factor. Thanks
