Hi, I need new tires so now is the time to restore my rims and hubcaps on a 1972 250. My researching for rim color seems to be Wimbledon White or Corinthian White. Not one answer that convinces me that is one over the other. I also read that the white might depend on the shade of white that might be on your truck. Mine is single color Tampico yellow if that matters. How can I get straight answers? AI can't even give straight answers. I'm having this issue with other questions also. I can't find if my hub caps are supposed to be stainless steel or painted argent. Mine is a sports custom camper special if that matters. It would be nice if there were a source to get straight answers verses many hours with mixed answers. To sum it up, I need to know the proper shade rim and where to get single stage rattle cans that don't need a clearcoat. I presume it is gloss. I also need to know if painted or stainless hub caps were original. Thanks

My best guess is these weren’t as big an issue at the assembly plants back in the day. They tended to use whatever white might be readily available
and spray a boatload of wheels to be used on whatever trucks rolled off. If that day they had WW, that’s what they got painted. If CW was on hand and ready to pain, then they painted up a bunch of wheels with that. Might also be plant dependent. Ford tells them “trucks get white painted steel wheels” and nobody wants to question corporate and just picked a white. WW or CW. That clears nothing up for you huh? If you know what plant yours was made at, like from a Marti report, maybe put that here and see what others have?
Not doing concourse, but what would a judge say as they are trained in this? Am I the only one who cares? I'm just trying to do my best to be as the factory made them, but I think the closest to Corinthian white will do as shades change as they age anyways and stop overthinking it. Built in SanJose
