Proud new owner - finally back after 14 days in shop
Purchased a Blue Jean F250 CCSB FX4 Lariat Ultimate on Monday. Went in the evening, on an overcast DC day. Truck looked good walking around before test drive. Dealer had me in and out in 2.5 hours with a final walk-around during late dusk time-frame. Got home and noted a 2" scratch and 3" scuff on the bed behind the driver's side (driveway spotlight and angle of view - the scratch can barely be seen when looking at it head-on from more than a foot away). Contacted dealer and made arrangements for them to look at it today (all highway driving on the way home on clean roads, no impacts with anything driving like a baby). Took it to work and my volunteer gig yesterday, mildly warm in the DC suburbs (enough to kick the A/C on due to that lovely black leather interior) - went to get my uniforms out and found the front passenger seat drenched from seat to firewall and soaked through the floor mats.
So, here I sit at home, hour and a half drive away from the dealer, with a rental Fusion in the driveway, while the new beast sits at the dealer:

- Body shop advised that the scratch goes all the way to the primer level, so looking at least a day in the paint shop.
- Then, it has to go over to the service shop to get the drainage issue troubleshot. From past experience with my Fusion, I am assuming that the A/C drain line got clogged by debris during transit. Haven't looked at the schematics, but I am assuming that the condenser is behind the glove box.

It has the twin moonroof panel. Wife did not report any water in the carpet when we did the test drive on Monday evening and there was no water when I checked it when I got home on Monday night. It did not rain Monday night through Tuesday evening when I noted the issue (correction - the seat was dry, only the floorboard was wet, from seat brackets all the way forward to firewall). We shall see what the dealer reports when they get done with the body work on the bed and get it back to the service center.

Per the phone call my wife just received - scratch is repaired, going over to Service now. Service will send it back to Body Shop sometime next week for any required touch-ups after they figure out what left the front passenger floorboard area soaked through.
ETA - Finance guy got in touch with me this evening. Apparently, the dealership has a service technician that is their "leak specialist" and he was not in today. He will be in next week (unknown to me when), so they are keeping the truck for now. I had the truck in my hands for less than 48 hours, a new record for me in owning vehicles and needing a gripe list checkup at the dealer of record.

So, apparently I must wait for the "leak specialist" technician to return to work before I will learn more about the fate of the truck. He was not at work today, uncertain information on when he is next on schedule and has time to look at the truck.
Had a new truck in my hands for almost 48 hours...fastest I have ever had to bring a new vehicle back to the dealer...

I feel for you. That really blows. I ordered my new 250 Lariat. Est. delivery was 8 weeks. It arrived in 6. With a cracked windshield. It took 3 days to receive and replace with new windshield. I picked the truck up in the daylight. Its Magnetic. I did not see the dent in the front drivers side fender. All the way in the front on top where the metal comes almost to a point. Not so much as a scuff in the paint. Ive been thinking it might have been painted with the dent already there. They have a paintless dent guy at the dealer and he made it go away perfectly. But I also had a few scratches in the bed. On the right wheel well. Not to the primer. Just on the surface. But there is also a dent in the wheel well. The paintless guy could not fix that because he was afraid of damaging it worse on a brand new truck. Im leaving it because Ill surely put my own dents in there even after I Line X it. But it is a total drag to have a new truck with 3 frigging miles on it and a cracked windshield and dents. WTF?
All and all.... now with 1500 miles on the clock, Im loving the truck. The only thing that would have made this all the best vehicle I ever bought would be for it to cost about $10,000.00 less than I paid. And even at that it would have been high. Now I know how my dad feels when he talks all that depression era stuff about things costing a nickle and walking uphill BOTH ways in a snow storm...

Stopped by the dealer... the front panel of the moonroof is misaligned. The passenger side is too high, allowing intrusion when closed. They couldn't get it adjusted to seal, had to order a replacement moving panel.
Body shop resprayed the entire left side of box, looks good.
Once moonroof issue is resolved, has to go back to body shop for any touch ups and final quality check before I get it back. They are saying tomorrow, but I'm thinking that isn't overly likely. We shall see. Getting tired of the rental Fusion (not as comfortable as my '08).

This is a good thread for everyone to read and lean a valuable lesson from. ALWAYS No Exceptions go over the vehicle in detail. If it has the kind of damage (or not have not taken delivery for a lot less than this) this one had just walk away it is your choice. Lots of other vehicles out there.

- There was no water in the floorboards at time of delivery. There was no water at the time of showing it off to a good friend, who climbed all over the beast late Monday evening. Both of my daughters rode in the truck barefoot after I got it home Monday evening and neither complained of wet feet.
- If it was the moonroof (as the dealer states), it didn't drain out into the interior compartment until being parked overnight. There was no rain that evening or the next day, so it would have been introduced by the car wash immediately prior to delivery.
- If it was the A/C condenser drain, it didn't happen until I drove the truck after work on Tuesday, as I did not use the A/C beyond minimal function tests Monday evening (it wasn't needed - drove home with the windows open).

Mike -- was talking about the scratch and scuff. Mechanical issues are problematic should have clarified. I have special flashlights (another hobby) powerful LED but not too powerful that I use to help examine for excessive orange peel, swirls and other defects if delivery is in poor light for example (like to take delivery in the afternoon if possible). Just pointing out that once you drive it off after you given them your trade keys, payment and have signed all of the contractual documents it becomes Much more complicated to unwind the deal.
Sorry you are having issues but have seen this happen to more than a few people I know. I even have a statement from the selling dealer that they have never done any repair on the vehicle when I purchase one. My brother bought one years ago that was damaged from the factory, across the ocean, to the dealer during transport. They painted the door and fender and never told him. After 2 years it was noticeable especially in the right light (shadow) being metallic silver.

That (LED) is a good idea. Will have to add it to my list of tools. Thanks!
ETA:
Well, service writer just called. After my visit yesterday, he talked to the shop manager about the lack of rain. While the panel is bad and leaking, it does not justify the amount of water. So, they started digging deeper. Apparently, the evaporator case is faulty in the vicinity of the drain tube. Requires an entirely new evaporator case (on order). They have now officially stated that they will not specify a completion time...
Owned this Gorram thing for one week and it has spent all but 40 hours of that time in the possession of the originating dealer.
Can't fault the dealer for the evap case (other than waiting until I showed up to actually check on progress). Can fault Ford for QA problems on the damn truck before shipping.
I am now in the officially pissed off realm.
