BROKEN into last night, you are not gonna like this
The truck broke into last night around 12:30 they might have heard me coming as they only got some money (car wash quarters) and that was it...It was late and dark I did not notice, everything looked normal in the dim light. Drove home, wife used truck today and noticed the door handle surround looked like it was out of place slightly, she looked again then looked thru the truck and my car wash quarters were gone:
Details:
I had a doctors appt last night to look at some sleep patterns. I was in an office but less than 75 ft total from the truck.
I INSURED the truck was locked and the alarms were on as I was in San Antonio.
There were only 2 cars in the parking lot, my truck and the docs car.
I went in about 8:30 and out at 12:30.
I never went to sleep so it called at 12:30 and I left. This tells me the ALARMS NEVER WENT OFF.
Wife stop by Ford and its about a $300 fix, ok, fine will do it.

Ford man who works on the Superdutys and does a LOT of these showed my wife how with a small flat blade screwdriver they can get in the truck in less than 15 sec, he told her Superduty's have the worst locking system of any truck made. He told her the word must be out because the SD's are starting to pour in the dealership. Worse it is barely noticeable. It is so easy and fast that it's being done in the daylight hours in busying parking lots, it looks like you are just putting the key in and unlocking the truck. Its nothing but a stab and grab...I had lots of stuff in the truck and thing they grabbed was some quarters.
And WORSE, there is no cure, nothing you can really do to prevent

When people break in like this, does turning the lock cylinder trick the car into disabling the alarm? Its crappy enough its so easy to do, even worse if the "computer" thinks its a normal entry and turns the alarm off
Guess if you have keyless entry you can just buy a passenger handle and remove the lock cylinder completely to avoid it.

There’s 2 ways of breaking into these trucks. One is manipulating the lock cylinder and the other is manipulating the lock rods.
I read a post a while back about someone attempting to put the rear door handles on the front doors and remove the lock cylinder all together. I can’t find the thread now to see if it was accomplished.
However, the option I have seen talked about the most is “Jimmy Jammers”
They have two separate solutions for these trucks. A plate that goes on inside the door panel to block access to the rods, and a plug to put in place of the lock cylinder.
Both are necessary to make the truck less easy to get in to. Of course a thief will get in if they really want. And there’s even a possibility of there being more damage if a thief knows how to break in and then can’t. But if you leave more in your truck than just loose change, you might want to look at this option:

I’m in no way affiliated with the product. I just researched them when I was living in the SF Bay Area. Now that I live in Maine I’m not so worried.

I understand that the door panel removal/reinstall can be a PITA. I intend to do mine at some point in the future because the dog chewed the top of each front door panel ($700 fix if I do it myself!). I'm going to replace the front door speakers and do something to make it harder to break into, at the same time.

I learned years ago to never lock my doors. No matter what measures you take to "prevent" a break in............they will still get what they want. By leaving the truck unlocked I no longer worry about a forced entry by a smashed window or a broken handle/lock cylinder. You want it, take it, I leave nothing of value in it when I leave. Alarms might scare them away but by then the damage is already done.
