Tow Pkg vs Max Tow pkg

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Tow Package and the Max Tow package?

Pretty vague question, what year are you referring to? The Max tow isn't just a single option, its misleading really. There is only 1 unicorn configuration that is truly max tow and that is a 157" WB 4x2 Supercrew, 20" wheels. Selecting max tow otherwise just gets you maximum as configured and some even with max tow are 11,700lbs. Most of the trucks will run out of payload before towing capacity.

How much do you need to tow/haul?

Depending on how you want to set the truck up it could be cheaper to get the max tow even if you don't plan on towing. When we ordered my wife's truck I wanted it to have the larger tank and the 3.55 e-lock axle. Those two options are included with the max tow and it ends up being cheaper in the long run that getting them separate. I thought th salesman was lying to me but he ran the spec sheet both way and he saved us a few hundred dollars going with the max tow plus we got the other stuff associated with the package.

It’s cheaper if you order the Max Tow than each included option. You can get options separate and add the trailer package with brake controller, and get all the same benefits, except the “different” rear number, which is really a “who cares” option anyway. Problem is, the payload takes a hit either way.

If you go to the build and price website, it gives you the break down.

2013 had either the 3.5 ecoboost or 6.2, 3.73 gears, 9.75 rear, hitch is rated for 11k, rear bumper is different, and front sway bar is bigger, and the GVWR on a 6.2 is 7700, and I think the ecoboost was 7350? And brake controller.... not sure about the 36 gallon tank, Id have to look, my truck has the big tank.I still have my 2013 6.2 max tow F150.

I hear a lot about the upgraded rear bumper on the Max Tow Package trucks. What is the upgrade exactly? Has anyone ever compared them side to side with a non max tow truck?

The upgraded rear bumper is just additional metal and reinforcing above the hitch in the center of the bumper under the plastic. The upgraded bumper doesn't apply to the physical bumper extensions left or right.

Tow Packages

My Truck didn't have ITBC, it had the Class IV receiver and the 4/7 pin connector luckily it had fuse #24 it the fuse Box I assumed it had one because my 2014 truck that I traded in had the ITBC Max Trailer Tow Package Aux Trans Cooler, Sway Bars ETC,So I got the Dealer to install the proper ITBC for 2018 trucks they changed from 2017 to 2018,That will never happen again,I did get the dealer to pay for the ITBC and program it.
