Where is the starter solenoid located on a 1956 f series? I have a ‘56 F350 if it makes any difference. I didn’t take the truck apart, bought it in pieces. Thank you, Dennis

 

I found the old wiring harness and streached it out. It looks like the solenoid would be above the heater motor. There’s two holes with screws in them. Next question. Where would the horn relay be located? There’s three wires close to starter solenoid in the harness, but I only see one hole for mounting in the firewall. Dennis

Here is a shot of my 54 firewall. My 54 was built late in the year so it is different than your 54. The earlier 54's had a junction block slightly above and to the left of the horn relay.


I had to add extensions to my original style stock 1954 wire harness when I put the new harness in.

My 54 was a little different then Abe's. My horn relay was in about the same place, but my starter sol. was mounted in the frame rails F-750

Well like I said my 54 was made late in the production year. My grandfather bought it on December 22, 1954. I can post the production date later.

 

My production date is 19-H-7108*. If I am correct, that means August 19, 1954. What does the 7108 mean?

So they probably started instituting 1955 features at that point.

I don't think that anyone here knows what 7108 decodes to. The day and month can be decoded, but the rest of the production code is a mystery.

Historically, new vehicles are introduced in September of the previous year, so production begins in August.

A = January, M = December, the letter I is skipped.

 

So a build date of August 19, 1954 for a 54 model is very late. I do not think my 54 was built in August of 1953 and sat on the lot until December 1954.
