Traction control and transmission questions???please help
So I bought a 2018 f350 lariat and the traction control is driving me nuts! Lol is there any way to fully turn it off? I push the button and it seems to stay on, when I’m going over a pass when I’m in snow as soon as the tires spin I lose power and it makes for a loooong trip up the mountains lol, I would love to know how to turn it completely off, also I feel like there’s a lot of turbo lag when I first start, how much lag is normal for a 6.7 and it feels very slow at starting out till I get to 4th gear, it shifts quickly to 4th gear just kinda a pain in traffic, thanks for any help.

Is it an srw F350? if it is its not turbo lag it is a computer controlled engine derate in the first 3 gears, Ford did this to help protect components and keep from spinning tires easily, or so I have heard.
Q: Do I get the full 925 lb-ft of torque right away?
A: No. The torque is derated in first several gears in order to prolong tire life. The torque multiplication due to low gears is too great and you can easily spin the tires. The single rear wheel trucks are torque limited in first three gears, and then you get the full torque in fourth and above. The dually F-350 and F-450 are torque limited in first gear. Once you get full torque, it’s available for the duration of the acceleration/climb.

so holding it down works! Thanks! So I put it in tow haul seems to hold them lower gears longer, and the manual mode works too! Thanks! This truck is a lot more fancy then my old 6.4 lol

Even when the button is pressed for 6+ seconds and supposedly everything is disabled...I still feel the traction control kicking in on corners. I don't think there is a way to fully disable it...they just tell you it does. I hold the button down and turn it all off every time I start my truck. I may look into putting the ABS system on a toggle switch to bypass Ford's computer.

I use sport mode, two taps in short succession and it will notify in sport mode. A long push of the traction control it should tell you it’s turned off traction control. But yes, it will still use the brakes to reduce spinning. I drive in 4 wheel with the diff lock on and air down the tires a bit for winter roads. The motor is truly a beast. Manual mode to hold the hold the gears longer is also helpful.
