Smallest cheapest main battery I can get away with.

You want cheap? Probably can't get any cheaper than these: https://www.walmart.com/ip/ValuePowe...up-65/47308796 It's a little light on the CCA rating but will probably work okay in relatively benign service conditions.
Just keep your expectations low....

Some comments on using a low. capacity. battery.
If it sets long periods of time, it may not crank the motor because the computer and some other function are still alive and take power.
My experience over the years with w-mart units has been bad cells on every one even the replacements.
How to test for bad cells:
Since 6 cells are 2.17 volts per cell = 13.02 volts, testing each cell 'if there is access' can pick out a faulty cell.
To do this with a voltmeter, dip the test prods just into the electrolyte but DO NOT JAMB INTO TBE PLATES.
A cell less that 2 volts is suspect and lowers cranking capacity.
*
What I failed to add for testing cells is start from the neg terminal to the first cell with the voltage measurements, then cell to cell until the last cell to positive terminal is measured.
*
A useful measurement this way cannot be made if water has been added and battery has not been charged to mix it in.
Good luck.

Understand, every time you remove power and reapply, it reboots the computer causing it to normalize all tables and goes into full diagnostics.
Doing this and not running enough drive cycles may never finish all diagnostic tests especially the fuel tank tests.
I would consider a 12 volt Solar panel for the specific application attached to the battery when the last use of the truck is made.
This should solve all the possible issues.
Good luck.

When I bought my truck the battery went kaput in a week or two while I was buying materials in home depot for a deck I was building. I got a battery there for 70 bucks and didnt have a single issue since. I do live in NC and the prices may be cheaper due to our low cost of living but its worth checking out.
