Original Aluminum Wheels

Hello everyone, I've searched through some older posts among other online sources and couldn't find much info on the factory late 70's/early 80's 15" 10 hole aluminum wheel part number D8TZ-1015-E (could be different for polished vs satin) or often seen as style 19 in available options. I've seen this wheel in some old Ford brochures and pictures and it seems every time they are on a Lariat truck although I've seen a few pre lariat year models with them but don't know if original . Does anyone have these wheels (originally) on a non lariat truck? Pictures? Or does anyone know for sure if they did come on non lariat models? Thanks

Pics not uploading has happened to me several times and I found what works. Do not click on the paper clip for attachments, click on the "image" thing next to the smiley face. The same page comes up but this one works.

I think those came on the '79 Indy 500 trucks.

I ran across (online) an original dealer invoice that's dated 5/8/79 that is for a 79 pace truck. Not gonna post a pic because it has someone's name and address listed. It lists the "Ind. Speedway Official Truck Pack." as a $ 575.00 option. Further down the list separately is the "Wheels Forged Aluminum" option at $ 332.50. Maybe if you got one you got both, dunno. Interesting though

The rims did come on Lariat models. I believe that the black center caps were on the Indy trucks and the Freewheeling packages. The chrome caps on the Lariats. ND will know for sure. I found a set in a corn field on an old parts truck

and put them on my Ranger model.

Optional styled aluminum and styled steel wheels were optional, available on everything.
D8TZ-1015-E .. Polished Styled Aluminum Wheel (TYPE 9 in pic - see below). There was no satin version / Obsolete

Optional for all: 1978/81 F100/150, Bronco & E100/150.

The plastic hubcaps (Ford called them ornaments) are retained to the wheels with 3 nylon anchors and screws.

The 3 holes for these parts are within the bolt circle pattern.

I've listed both the styled aluminum and styled steel wheels many times in the past.

The styled steel wheels were introduced in 1977 F100/150 & E100/150, Bronco got 'em in 1978.

Pic from 1980/89 truck parts catalog, there's no pic in the 1973/79 truck catalog.

I'm guessing those wheels were a 'required option' with the Indy package, on F100 and F150 level trucks.
I'm not sure what wheels came on the F250 and F350 Indy trucks.

Painted steel wheels with 'dog dish' hubcaps or optional wheel covers.
Styled wheels weren't available for F250/350 until 1990.

The only Indy trucks I've ever seen were F150's.

For those unaware, the 1979 Mustang was the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car, so the service vehicles were also Fords.

Thanks for that information ND....that's exactly what I needed to know. I actually have these wheels with what looks like original black center caps "ornaments". At first I thought they were off of a later year model. So now I know it's possible that they're original to my truck!

Late to the party but yeah, these rims were an option for the F150 ranger for sure in 79. I still have the original recipt from when my grandfather bought his and it was picked as a buy-up option. Found an extra set in a junkyard for cheap and was looking for good info on them. Found it here, thanks.
