2017 6.7 has tons of power and torque, but most of the time you can't really feel it unless you put your foot to the floor. Feels sluggish and the throttle response is not to my liking. Will the Pedal Commander fix this? Is there a better product?

 

Had one on my 2018 Ford Raptor and made a huge difference, traded Raptor in on 2018 F350 and kept it as same part#. It does make a very noticeable difference in drivability and eliminates 70% of the turbo lag. I used it in the sport mode level 3, with 4 clicks more on the 2nd mode for my 60 mile daily commute. I have had ZERO issues with it and the it really sucks to drive it in the stock mode IMO. You wont be sorry and will laugh out loud how much better it makes this big Diesels as far as fun to drive!!

 

If you have adjustable pedals try moving them closer or further than they are now. Seems to affect the accelerator "curve" a bit. Might make the difference.....

 

First time I've heard of pedal commander and definitely interested, as it really seems Ford has the throttle response set low. One concern or question - can Ford try to deny a warranty claim if this is installed? Will they know? I remember reading in the owners manual that the truck will record key data and any modifications from OEM programming, regardless if it is still installed or not and potentially decline coverage.

 

The truck cannot record a pedal commander as it does nothing to the computer. I have one for sale in the classifieds if you all want to try one out at less than new cost..

 

Pedal commander explanation: when you put the pedal down 50% the truck may only give you 35%. The ecm uses a bell curve to give you a lesser reaction than the pedal position. The PC gives you a variety of different settings to give you a linear pedal to reverse bell curve. In short you are paying $300 for another computer to push your pedal down for you. If you want to do the same thing just use the throttle input more aggressively. Call them and ask. This is where I am getting the information from. I decided against and use my foot instead.

However it is Juvenile Fun to get full throttle acceleration by mashing the pedal down only 25% and have easier throttle control without wearing your foot out.

It feels like old school Cable Throttle Control rather than Drive By Wire if that makes sense.

It actually speeds up throttle response by a few milliseconds or more that you can easily notice any any driving situation IMO.

 

Go drive a Ram w/Cummins and then you'll learn what "dead pedal" and throttle lag really feel like.

 

+1. My 2019 F250 6.7L is night and day different than my previous 2017 3500 Ram 6.7L.

 

Seems like the Pedal Commander would make sense if someone puts on 37's.

 

 

I'm not sure I believe their website. First claim is made that PC changes the signal of the accelerator pedal that is sent to the ECU. Another claim is made that in certain gears and RPMs throttle is limited by the ECU and PC overcomes this. I don't see how this is possible, no matter what signal the pedal or PC is sending if the truck's ECU senses a certain RPM or gear it will still limit it, since it doesn't touch the ECU programming.

Being that I am over 40 and have walked, ran, biked and swam thousands of miles in my lifetime I don't think flooring my truck is going to wear my foot out.

I had an E46 BMW M3 that had a sport button. If I pushed the button and hit the accelerator the engine would almost go to full throttle in the first 35% of travel and that was it. No difference from 35-100%. Yes the first time I tried it felt faster. But in the end I could get the same performance by just flooring it.

 

I just wish you didn't have to wait like 3 seconds after you hit the gas peddle lol

 

The Computers also limit the torque in the first 3 gears, so you won't get full torque till your in 4th. That may be also part of the "lag" your feeling.
