Tilt/tele power column stopped - any ideas?

Got in my truck this morning and the power tilt/telescope did not work. The memory seat did not return to my programmed setting either. The power seat works but the column will not move. I checked the fuse diagram and the only fuse associated with the column is interior fuse #13 "Instrument Cluster. Smart data link. Steering column control module." I would think if that fuse were blown I would have lost more than just the power column. I'll check it this evening when I get home but need some pliers to pull it.

Any other ideas? Everything else seems to work. Pedals move, mirrors function, etc.

Had this happen on mine a 2 or 3 times, talked to dealer and of course since it doesn't do it when it's there you get no answer. Mine if I shut the truck off open the door and then start the truck again it seems to work then. BCM?? Or door sensor. Not sure these truck have so much electronics in them.

When I noticed it happen, I turned the truck off and got out thinking the same thing but when I got back in still nothing. I'll check it at lunch but seems odd. First issue I've experienced with it, but unfortunately now it is well beyond the 36k mile warranty.

Had the same exact thing happen to me on Christmas Eve am if I recall. When I crank my truck my steering column always drops to my preferred height and the seat slides forward because I have the easy exit setting turned on. That am neither moved on startup. Nothing I could do to make the steering wheel move. Button was dead. Turned motor off. Got out and shut door. Locked it. came back and restarted and still nothing. seat would move like yours. Was like this until I moved it around 2p. Has worked perfectly since and I have no explanation for why it was inoperable that am either.
There is a post somewhere in here I made about it that day. Lol.

Happened to me as well. The good news is that it was only once in almost 2 years.

Has happened to mine a couple times...
7-16-2019 Easy Exit/Recall: Could not adjust position of steering wheel. Auto memory function pre-sets not functioning either for programed positions 1, 2 & 3 (Seats/mirrors/steering wheel). Powered down truck and still would not work after power up. Drove to work (11mi) trying repeatedly to adjust steering wheel position. In advanced settings, unable to select “Easy Exit” function/option. Check Box “Greyed out” and could not be selected. Mileage: 3,825 Need to contact dealer. ***2hrs later worked normal???

Mine does the same, just as described and no fix from Ford, works fine when I get there for the appointment.
Sounds like we are all using the easy exit, and it quits working for no apparent reason, then after a period of time (a few hours) it will correct and start working.
Memory feature is dead but cam move seat. The steering wheel will not move, and can not disable the easy exit feature.

Mine did it once and fixed itself the next time I started the truck. I turned the function off so it wouldn't happen again.

I hope that ford does look into this and gets an answer, it's really good to know its more than one of us, and there isnt them meny of us using the easy exit, and that is probably the only way this will happen.

Happens to my other non Ford vehicles too - with these same features from time to time - so this is pretty normal.

There is for me, some unknown sequence of things that 'interrupts' the feature. It always resets as others have stated

I've had this feature setup on all of the vehicles that have had it over the years and none of them have ever failed like this. I do recall once the seat didn't move but that was as simple as hitting the 1 seat position and it corrected. My truck won't do anything when I use the seat preset buttons. The seat will move when I used the switches on the side of the seat but the steering wheel adjustment controls are dead which is the biggest problem as I've not found a way to work around that.
I agree it's a communication issue. It does show up when you scan it or at least mine did when I scanned it last time with Forscan. I haven't cleared it since it happened again so I will try to remember to document the code that was present.
