390/460 motor mount help

Hello & thank you for allowing me to be a part of this informative & most enjoying discussions. i am brand new to this site ( but you probly knew that already huh?!)
ok, my dad & myself have a 1969 F250 highboy 4x4 that had a 390 & a 4 speed. A while back, we lost a hole ( broken rings we think). So we decided to pull the 390 & swap in a 460 & auto tranny out of a '76 Lincoln Continental.
my question is: wut do we do with our motor mounts? We have heard many diff. Ideas/ solutions from diff people, and thus is the reason im asking the proffessionals rite now.
We await the opinions of many. Thank you for taking the time. -Jeff

The FE engine family is completely different from the 385 series. Since Ford never put the 429/460 in a 4wd until the 80's-90's, then you either have to make your own engine supports, or buy from several places like Autofab, or L&L. Autofab's are $350.

I have a 429 in my 69 crew 4x4 which I recently purchased. The previous owner did the swap. They took the 429 motor mounts and welded them into 390 mounts. I hadn't looked at them closely until today when I saw your post. I had planned on sending you a picture, but when I saw them it was just to scary looking! Don't do your swap that way. I am surprised my is engine is still in the truck ! I will be getting new mounts before I drive it again.

I did this swap back in the late 70's. 460 out of a car into a 1971 f100 with a 360. I used the car mounts on the engine and set engine on 360 engine stands. marked a hole from the original car mounts on the 460 and drilled a hole in front of engine stand and the rear and put original mount bolt through the mount and hole. Like a chevy does. It worked for me and was cheap.

If you have the skills with a tape measure and welder, I would probably just make a set of engine stands.
