EGR vacuum source

I’m removing the air injection system on my ‘89 F250 and wanting to keep a functioning EGR. Question is: can I remove the solenoid the EGRs vacuum is attached to and plug the EGR into the manifold vacuum?

I would think not as then it would have constant vacuum,it would need a switch of sorts to turn on and off and I beleive that would need a constant vacuum suply [canister],hope this helps
