Poor choices make great story’s... right?

Back a few months or so I read on here a story about a guys father buying a truck at night in the rain. Well my deal wasn’t quite as bad, at least I wouldn’t say so yet. I started out with selling my 500$ 1993 2wd f250 for 1500, then I found myself a 1979 f150 4x4. It had a solid bed but boy was it a bad buy because after it was in the driveway I realized I didn’t need another project. I even saw it in daylight! got it posted back up for sale the other day and found something that was right up my alley, 1977 f250 highboy with an in-line 6 and 4 speed manual. One problem (there’s always a problem) he already had a fella coming to look at it later on that day. lucked out and the guy postponed. Drove 4 hours last night round trip to go look at this truck. At night. I couldn’t pass the deal up even with the taillights being on their own switch and the headlights not working. On the bright side the fog lights worked. Picked it up for 2400 with a 100 dollar down payment to hold it for a few days till I can pick it up. Got a bill of sale and a copy of the title. I’ll throw some pictures up in a while.

You should never buy a vehicle at night, especially if it's raining and/or is parked under fluorescent lights.

Generally I wouldn’t but I had a chance and I took it. It’s a great running truck and no matter what it’s better than the 79 i bought. plus it’s exactly what I was looking for. The kid I bought it from was in college and daily drove a Honda CR-V. He was going to daily the truck but it was to long of a drive from school and back. ive got about everything I need to fix anything suspension wise, plus two rust free beds.

Take another pic and post it: Warranty Plate riveted to the left door face below the latch.

Pic you posted (post #3) is the Certification Label, glued to the left B pillar below the striker plate. Has the production date and VIN printed on it, and that's about it.

VIN decodes to 1977 F250 4WD 300 I-6 assembled in Louisville KY // Production Date: January 1977.

Winner. winner, chicken dinner. Last might I bought an E36 BMW under fluorescent lighting.

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do cuz the seller was like 60 miles away and our schedules don't sync up.

... it's gonna be my team's new racecar for https://24hoursoflemons.com/

My buddy just sold his bmw to his brother in law for $500 so he can enter it into the 24hrsoflemons. I'd love to enter, seems like a lotta fun.

I've had a few $500 lemons but never thought of entering them in anything.

not sure if they were all to common? Would have to do some research I guess.

Gotta throw a little risk into the game right?! Never fun without having those surprises you see in the daylight that you never saw before

Has anyone ever run a 70s ford in the lemons races?

I’ve got a question that I believe relates to “highboys” and other models but not sure which ones. What would be required for a truck to come with the bedside toolbox from factory?

That should be a great truck. Any chance you can get some pictures of the engine bay? I've been debating pulling the trigger on swapping out the 460 in my Highboy for a six, but I've never actually seen one in person or pictures.
