At the speedometer end. To see if the cable is broken disconnect it at the transmission and turn one end and see if the other follows.

If you determine the speedometer is at fault there are vendors advertising in Hemmings Motor News who repair them.

What is the issue, the needle is not moving or is jumping around? Or is the speedo reading too fast or too slow?

Or 'screaming'?? Proper diagnosis needs symptoms.

Needle is not moving. I did install a new speedometer/odometer in the dash. Needle just points straight down.

You will need to take the cable core out if you don't have a piece of core/stub to test the speedo with. Insert it into the back of the speedo and spin it with fingers or a drill to test the speedo. Easy problem (hopefully) is that the cable core isn't engaged in the speedo head.

Inside the speedometer cable housing is a woven steel core. It's supposed to be lubed every so often, but most people are unaware.
When the lube dries out, the steel core binds up inside the housing and snaps.
Auto parts stores sell a 'universal' cable core kit. Cut it to length, coat w/a fine film of graphite, install in the housing.
