2018 F350 to a Raptor

Thoughts here. Basically a straight trade. The '18 Raptor I got had less options, so brand new, it was equal value to my '18 F350 Lariat 6.7.

Ford needs to make Super Duty Raptor diesel. Then u can tow the fiver to the dunes and jump the dunes with the truck. While eating a sandwich. Who needs a RZR?

I really like driving this truck. On road trips there's nothing better. A little too much sway on the road .

So you currently have a 18 super duty diesel today but want a raptor? I had a 17 raptor, considering getting a new Diesel or a 19 raptor right now. Raptor is definitely capable off road.

He's asking for something that - to me - doesn't make any sense. The Raptor is an off-road performer. Put a heavy diesel engine in it and you're more likely to get stuck. The traditional Raport guys moaned and groaned about the Eco-Boost that replaced the 6.2L. Can you imagine the whining if they put the diesel in there?

Well, I'd rather scrape and scratch a 15-20k RZR than a 60-80k Raptor.

Agreed. That's why I have a Polaris Ranger.

There's a reason the Raptor can't tow ****. If you want soft, compliant, offroad suspension, you aren't going to do much towing with it. If you want to tow heavy, you aren't going to have a dune jumper.

You can get pretty close in a Super Duty, just need to spend about $10k on suspension. Which, really in the scheme of things isnt that bad. But, even if you were to do that, you're drastically reducing your payload.

I have a lifted 17 F350 platinum that has been a sweet truck. I’m getting a new personal truck soon and am really thinking of selling it for a raptor. The 19 raptor is almost identical to the 17 minus the live valve shocks and new seat option.
Expect to see some changes to the 2020 so if you can wait to see what those will be it might be a good idea.

MegaRaptor

Here you go OP. Looks like conversion kits start at only $28k. Or a more realistic option is what Tricon said ^^

MegaRaptor

MegaRexx, MegaRaptor, love a Raptor but need diesel power!

You guys are mean.

I'm just making an observation. In theory, it would be nice to marry the features of an F350 to those of a Raptor.

This Raptor is amazing. As long as all u are hauling is a PBJ sandwich. I have a '19 450 to do work.

Swore I'd never buy a Raptor. Just saying,it is pretty cool off road.

Mean, just mean......

The problem with crossing the DNA of a Super Duty with a Raptor is (very obvious) these trucks are designed to do 2 very different objectives. While both can go off road the Raptor is specifically designed to conquer almost anything it faces off road...the Super Duty is not optimized but can get you through quite a bit just not as fun as the Raptor. Even making easy changes like 37 inch tires will typically reduce towing and hauling capability because those tires are often not rated as high as the OEM sizes. You have to be careful you don't get yourself in trouble if you tow or haul heavy.

Towing or hauling is the Super Duty sweet spot and while the Raptor can tow and haul the capacities are significantly lower and you give up a ton of safety while doing it.

Like others have said you can spend money on suspension/ tires to try to improve each truck...make the Super Duty better off road or the Raptor better at working but you will surely sacrifice the vehicles main mission it was designed for.

IMO you are better off buying 2 trucks. Get a 6.2 Raptor and a 2017 SuperDuty and you will likely be spending about the same amount (maybe slightly more) as a buying a new version of either truck.

It's why I have one too. I actually went from a 2015 F150 with over $8k in suspension mods to a new 18' F350 6.7....couldn't be happier. I can tow and still get to the fishing and hunting spots i go.

Spot on. Trying to combine the two trucks is a compromise which will make them do nothing well. You really can't think of a Raptor as a "truck". Its an off-road sports vehicle. It used the F150 chassis because it can be easily adapted. Its strong and has the necessary elements for the needed suspension upgrades. The Super Duty is not a sports vehicle but instead a real "truck". Its purpose is to haul and tow loads well beyond the capabilities of cars and light duty pickups. Its weight and stiff suspension doesn't translate well to off-roading for sport.

The heavy 6.7 PSD would be now work well in a Raptor because the additional 1000 lbs on the nose would ruin its sporting off-road dynamics. The EB3.5 is an excellent choice for the Raptor, the missing V8 noise aside. Its light, makes excellent torque and improves weight distribution compared to the 6.2 it replaces.
