Possible Oil Leak Question 6.7 Diesel

Hi Guys,
So last time i took my truck to the dealer to have my oil changed, my service advisor calls me to go in the back while they have the truck on the lift. He wanted to show me where they though there may be a possible oil leak from my oil pan gasket. I asked him if maybe they got oil on the side when they took the oil filter off, they told me it was there already. He asked me if I've noticed any puddles where i park i told him i hadn't noticed any oil. I don't always park on asphalt or concrete either. Anyway i always wash under the truck and haven't paid much attention until he pointed it out. Now I've been looking under it and see that there is indeed a small leak coming from somewhere. I got under it yesterday and wiped up where it was wet. Now today i get home and go back outside and look and i see a few small drops on the asphalt. It looks like to me the oil is coming from the passenger side of the motor up higher on the motor. It looks wet up high. Just wanted to see if anybody else has had this issue, and may have a clue of where it may be coming from ? Haven't had any issues with the truck other than a couple small electrical ones. I currently have 31K on my truck, service advisor told me to leave it when it's due for the next oil change and to watch it in there meantime. I run full synthetic oil in my truck.

If you are still within 3 years, you should take it back now before it hits 36k miles. At least to get it documented. And maybe they can add some dye to better be able to trace the source when you take it back in later.

Yes i know my next oil change will be around 35K, but i may take it back sooner. He didn't want me to have to pay for an oil change, but that shouldn't matter if it's a warranty claim i wouldn't think. I want to get it addressed sooner then later. Here's some pics of the leak.

There's no reason to wait and see what happens between now and your next oil change. It's definitely leaking. I'd take it in now and let them know that it appears to rapidly be getting worse, if it went from no drops on the driveway to multiple in just a few days. That looks too high to be just the pan gasket IMO, but fluids on the drivetrain can move in odd manners while going down the road at speed.

Ah! I wasn't sure if the drivetrain warranty covered leaks or just mechanical failures. Either way, no need to wait.

Better to fix it asap that way oil does not leak and also blow back across the bottom of the truck making an even bigger mess then it will start to stink. It will never get any better only worse..
