Rear Door Window Stopped Working, Suprising Cause

The power window on the passenger side rear door went intermittent then finally quit.

I was going to start tearing into everything and test switches and the motor and such when I noticed while pressing the switch on the open door that if I moved the door it momentarily would work.
So then I grabbed the conduit and squeezed and wiggled, and it worked briefly again. Then nothing.
But I knew what to check first.

The culprit! Glad I didnt waste hours testing everything else...

A quick peek confirmed my suspicions and a few minutes with a soldering iron and a small splice for relief has it working like new.
I poked around online and this is not exactly a common problem, but it's not that rare either.

I was pretty fortunate to have noticed the actual problem before spending hours on testing components etc. So I'm posting this just in case someone else has a similar issue.

Could be the issues with my rear passenger door window. It would go down, but not up from the door switch. The master switch would make it go down and up. I replaced the doors window switch, and the master switch and nothing changed. I did not think about it for a long time and then a passenger put the window down one night. I told them to let me know when they wanted it back up as I would have to do it, and they surprised me by pressing the button and it went right up. A bad wire would explain this.

I am having this same problem with my 2000 Ex. The passenger side rear window will go down but not up. I have a new drivers door master control center coming but if that does not fix the problem I will look for a broken wire. would it normally be the red wire with black tracer that breaks or could it be different for each door? All of my other windows work great.

I would never aha even thought of that on the Ex. In Gen2 Vipers however this is common. Great thread and reminder...

That happens all the time on Jeep Grand Cherokees. Disables the master switch set in the drivers door. Easy repair though. Glad you found it.
