1979 F250 T19
I own a ‘79 F-250 2WD with a 300 I6 and C6 transmission. I would like to convert it over to a T19 4-speed (or newer alternative that I’m not aware of).
I’m in the process of figuring out a list of parts along with the necessary modifications and wanted to get some feedback from those that may have already ventured down the same path.
1) Would I simply replace the flex plate with a flywheel or are there other modifications required (to the crankshaft, etc.)?
2) Is there an aftermarket hydraulic clutch release bearing available? I’d like to avoid mechanical linkage for ease of assembly.
3) What bell housing would work? From what I’ve read the 300 I6 used the same bell housing as the small block Windsor engines.
4) Can I use the existing cross member for the C6 or are modifications necessary?
5) Any modifications necessary to the driveshaft?

Here's another option. Another member went with this company and the perfect fit kit and stuck it behind his 300 (I think, been a while). From looking at their website they can build a kit for your application. I might go with this in the future for my 300 I6 in my 1978 F150 Custom!

No 1961/82 F250/350, 1961/83 F100/150 or 1966/83 Bronco came with a hydraulic clutch.
Hydraulic clutch introduced in 1983 F250/350 with 460 & 6.9L diesel, everything else got it in 1984, but these parts will not work on anything earlier.
In order to make this swap, you will need a bell housing, flywheel, clutch pedal and all the mechanical clutch linkage from a 1977/79, including the M/T brake pedal, 1973/76 parts will not work.
The 1977/79 M/T brake pedal is also different with or without power brakes, with or without Speed Control.
1973/79 F100/350: There are TWENTY TWO different brake pedals, NINETEEN different master cylinders, SEVENTEEN different power brake boosters and SEVEN different clutch pedals, I kid you not!
This is not an EZ swap, most of the parts are obsolete, so you'll need them from one specific 1977/79, because you cannot mix parts from other years.
You will also have to change the driveshaft, as it's a different length w/a M/T
