(sigh) Another clueless ebay seller, this is not a Ranger!

Rangers have bucket seats, a 'drape' that covers the in-cab fuel tank, full carpeting. A center console was optional.

This truck has a cloth covered bench seat (no 1961/66 had a cloth seat) and it has a rubber floor mat.

Lower pic shows the bucket seats. They were standard equipment on 1965/66 F100/250 Rangers, optional for all 1967/72 F100/250's.

Well, someone more knowledgeable than me will have to comment on the "Ranger" part. I thought 1967 was the first year. I see the hood has a V-8 emblem on it with the 6 cyl engine, and was once blue, as were both doors. The dash looks to be from a custom cab, but I also thought the doors would have the chrome trim with white inserts on the inside. The tailgate doesn't appear to be a '65 either.

It appears to have several body parts replaced during its time.

Yep Bill, that's surely not a Ranger but the seller must know these trucks as they took pictures of all the rust prone weak places on these trucks showing solid cab mounts and floor pans. Like you, I have little regard for "clueless ebay sellers" (I buy old Nylint toys) but in this case I think the seller knows what he has- I'm not sure why he'd hold this out as a Ranger.

I talked to him his name is Brian and his phone # is in his listing and the G81 code is on the plate. That's not the only one he's selling with no reserve he has 2 listed.

truck does seem to have a repaint at least. Only the warranty plate and the vin matched to the frame numeber will confirm that this is a real Ranger. My eagle eye did notice the correct holes drilled for the bucket seat brackets in one of the underneath floor shots.

I believe somebody made a mistake when it went down the assembly line? They got the fender emblems on and that was as far as it got?You could take both trucks and make one super nice Ranger. It is suprising to me both trucks are 65's and have padded dashes?

1965/66 F100/250 Custom Cabs & Rangers have an anodized aluminum grille and tail lamp bezels (Styleside), stainless steel windshield reveal mouldings, padded dash and sweep speedo instrument cluster

Side mouldings and chrome front bumper were options.

This truck has all of the above, plus Ranger fender emblems and the Ranger only BODY code of G81, which is black vinyl bucket seats...which are obviously missing.

But, the Custom Cab/Ranger door trim panels are also missing as is the Ranger only carpeting. So, is it real or a fake?

The 1966 Salesmans Data Book says this about the Ranger Package. Only if you ordered a Ranger with the optional bucket seats would it require Custom Cab.

But, this is a 1965 w/a Ranger only BODY code of G81, decodes to black crinkle all vinyl Bucket Seats.

I have not seen the data plate myself so I'm not sure of the BODY code, but cool. I was just mentioning that Ranger does not equal Custom Cab or bucket seats in all cases.

Here's one that might be an original with bucket seats. Too bad they don't provide the data plate.

OMG Chad thanks so much for posting that link. 1 of less than 1000 built and with the compulsory side storage box and door panels. Woopee I should buy it right now. Yes I am bored and sarcastic. No offence to you just the whole over hyped Ranger thing.

Looks to me like the doors have the holes for the CC door panels they are just missing.Hard to tell about that tail gate.I would like to see the data plate and title to check the numbers. For all you know the doors might have come off a real Ranger!I hope the title maches up to the truck?I am confused about the padded dash-I thought 66's only or are these trucks late 65's??

Padded dash was very common in 1965. Even 1964 (you can see the reference to the 262 engine) had the padded dash as part of an option called the Safety Package. Hopefully you can see that in the upper right corner. It was a new option for 1964.
