2003 Ford Expedition 4WD Does Not Work
Hidy Ho!
We bought a 2003 Ford Expedition with being told ....."The 4 Wheel Drive does not work, but it drives and runs fine without it working...it needs the junction box replaced to fix that 4WD drive issue, $470 part and installation" ......................
So before I take it in somewhere to have that done, does this sound correct? The vehicle does run beautifully, except when you need the traction and 4 wheel drive!
Thank you so much!

Are you getting any DTC error codes ? Were they talking about the 4x4 control module ? Not the actual fuse box ?
There is a fuse in the junction box that powers the 4x4 module (fuse 20?).
Fuse box ....
Or the 4x4 control module.... 4x4 Control Module at Rock Auto

Ok you need to get the OBDII codes read and see what kind of errors are actually stored in the computer. Do you have a code reader? Most autoparts stores carry them, or will read the codes for you.Or you can order one off Amazon. It could be something like a wheel speed sensor that's triggering the ABS light. But you just don't know until you see the DTC codes and do some inspections. Are you capable of doing the repairs yourself ?

I wouldn't take the seller's word for it unless he handed you a diagnostic report from a shop. He might be correct, but it could just as easily be the front clutch in the transfer case, or the shift motor.

I recently purchased a 2004 Lincoln Navigator with about 213,000 miles on it. The 4wd high and 4wd low indicator lights did not light up when the selector switch was turned to those positions. Neither did I get any indication that the front wheels were pulling when doing the hard right or left turn in a parking lot. I replaced the transfer case motor and now the lights work, and I the motor shifts from high to low and back, but still do not get any indication that the front wheels are pulling when doing the test. I have jacked up the front end and when I turn the front wheels the hubs are locked onto the front drive shaft. Am I correct in suspecting there is something wrong with the Electron clutch for the front drive shaft?

2003 Ford Expedition 4WD Does Not Work
I have a 2003 Expedition. The 4wd drive switch is round unlike ones I have seen on-line. I watched a few videos concerning removal of the glove box to access the 4wd controller and when I popped the glove box the only thing I see is the fan housing. Could it be located somewhere else?
