2002 f-150 battery light

Ok battery light stays on, 14.9 volts when running, autozone tested battery & alternator-good, trucks been driven for a couple weeks, even at night, no problems. This is on a 02 150 crew cab 4.6 engine 135k. battery & alt. Practically new. Voltage gauge stays in the middle while running, no movement until engine is shut off. HELP!

The Alternator Regulator determines the battery 'float' voltage.
If the Regulator is out of spec, you get this higher voltage.
It will, over a long term, cause loss of battery water from the electrolyte and run the lights and all other system at the higher voltage.
The results of this is shorter Alternator life, shorter battery, head light life etc
Charge light on/off is controlled by the Regulator.
I believe either the plug on the Alternator is .not seated or the Regulator is faulty on your replacement.
Your system voltage should be in the 14 to14.2 volt range depending on the electrical load at the moment it's measured..
Good luck..

14.9 volts isn't really cause for concern, necessarily - It is almost December - depending where you're at, it's pretty cold right now. Charging voltage will rise as temperatures goes down. If you live in south Florida, well then that's different.

Battery light illuminated though, is definitely a concern. Welcome to FTE btw.
