1970 F250 Camper Special Advice
New to the group, so thanks in advance. I've enjoyed reading what I've seen so far. So here's my situation. I recently picked up a 70 F250 Ranger XLT that came with the factory Camper Special option, the side tool box and A/C. I'm really enjoying having a truck again, but I'm needing some advice. I ordered the Marti report, so I know that it came with a spare tire, but I don't have anything - spare, jack, jack handle. Once I find them, I'm wondering where the jack was stored. Where I would expect to see it on the drivers inner fender area had a spot for a second battery and nothing that looks like a jack storage. I see the studs under the seat for the jack handle, but I don't think the lug wrench.
I'll need some trim pieces and the original Camper Special emblems are gone.
Just looking at some other listings I'm guessing that some items (grill ?) were one year only. Is that the case? If so, what else?
Does the steering wheel look original?
I'm sure that I'll have a lot more questions, but for that's good for now. Any words of wisdom to be on the lookout for with this year/model?

No, it's incorrect for 1970.

No, it's incorrect for 1970.
Same 3 spoke 17" steering wheel with a horn button or horn ring: 1960/63 Falcon/Comet; 1961/65 F100/250 2WD; 1966 F100 4WD; 1966/73 Bronco; 1967/70 F100/250 2WD/4WD; 1969/70 F350.
This wheel is reproduced in black only by Dennis Carpenter, the horn ring is reproduced in chrome, but 1968/70's were painted argent to reduce glare. The Bronco horn ring is different.
Dual batteries were not available until 1973. 1970 grille frame is 1970 only as are the plastic grille inserts, rectangular Camper Special emblems were located on the cowl panel of 1970/72's.
There were two types of jack crank handles. One type was sooo long that it was retained to the front of the radiator support with clips.
Ford also offered a optional folding jack crank handle that was standard equipment for Econolines and on the trucks, it was stored under the seat. It's still available from Ford.

Welcome to the bumpside family! Nice truck, too! I figured Bill would be along to straighten out the info your were looking for! Might be some guys on here that could help with the emblems, I know some of them are available from the aftermarket from places like Dennis Carpenter or National Parts Depot.

There were several different emblems on the cowl panels of 1970/72's, the rectangular chrome base was the same, then Ford glued thin metal inserts into the bases.
Besides the Camper Special inserts, there were Heavy Duty Special, Farm & Ranch Special, Contractors Special inserts. The inserts faded so badly they couldn't be read, or they fell out.
If you look at the OP's truck, the base is there on the left cowl panel, but the pic was taken at an angle and is too far away to see if the insert is still present.

Thanks for all the input. I'm guessing I'm pretty unlikely to find a correct steering wheel in the salvage yard, but maybe the jack ect. I do have the chrome bases for the Camper Special emblems, but both are missing the emblem itself. The ones with the correct looking proportions on ebay have black lettering for "Camper" and either yellow or red for "Special" and it even looks like one with a yellow "Camper" and black "Special". Are there any rules about which one is appropriate?
There is also another base (?) that I have no clue about
Bill, I do have the spare hanger hardware under the bed, just nothing in it.
The truck did have a camper on it when the PO picked it up, unfortunately he sold it off. I would have loved to see what vintage it was. I get a kick out of the adjustable rear bumper that was installed. I'm guessing it was aftermarket, but it looks to have several feet of travel.

Here you go for an owner's manual for your truck. Jack storage is described on page 33 where it is located on the left fender apron.

1969/91 Econoline vans used the same jack, lug wrench (except with dual rear wheels) and have the folding jack crank handle. Open the right back door and look inside.
