Replaced Door Lock Actuator 2001

Hello, I successfully replaced the door lock actuators on my 2001 F250 and they work great, however, now I am routinely getting locked out of the truck. The key won't unlock either door. Is there some sort of trick that you guys have used to make this work? Everything went together just like it came apart so I am stumped. I have the same problem with both doors. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Steve

I had that problem with one of mine after I replaced it. It's been several years so I'm trying to explain the best I can. There was a clamp from the actuator to the rod for the lock. That clamp needs to be in the same position as it was. If you have it too high or too low it will cause you problems. You should know what I am referring to.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. I was afraid I bent one of the rods.

I replaced the key cylinders and both doors work now. One of the cylinders had a broken piece and the other one must have just been loose or something. In the process of doing this I also made sure I pushed the rod from the door handle to the mechanism in the lock down as far as I could before I clamped it and I think that may have also had something to do with it. That is a crazy complex system in there. I don't know who the heck ever came up with that. Seems like there must be an easier way to design the door open, close, and lock system.

I've been into mine several times and think the same thing every time!
