Crank gears are spinning

I'm seeing more and more crank gears spinning on these 17-18 6.7 super duty's. I know its a small percentage overall but I'm seeing 1-2 people per week posting about it on facebook. Some stock ones but mostly tuned ones with different tuners and running different hp levels. I had my crank gear to slip on me and just had a new short block put in my truck. I did have a shop weld my crank gear to the crank so I wont have to worry about that and now I have the upgraded connecting rods as well. So overall I was without my truck for 3-4 weeks but now I have a better short block.

First I've heard of it. Interesting.

I googled the subject, and only saw issue in early year 6.7, that were tuned - etc.. My Harley crank has the rod pins welded, but it's far from stock. I don't think it's a issue, when a engine is modified and something brakes.

Like I said I’m seeing it on Facebook so googling wouldn’t help. Plus people knew I had the issue so they PM telling me they have the P0016 code and asking what steps need to be taken.

Looks like crankshaft position sensor issue.. But you don't like Google, but give it a try.. What causes the P0016 code? The camshaft timing is out of position due to the timing chain jumped teeth. The camshaft phaser is out of position due to problems with phaser. The oil has flow to the phaser is impeded from having an incorrect oil viscosity or partly clogged passages.

2020 6.7 crank pulley moved

Cousin has a 2020 F250 6.7 with 21000 miles. Recently started tapping noise from engine and slight reduction in fuel miles. Engine threw a code for crank sensor. Took to Ford and it was determined the crank pulley had slipped and threw the timing off 3 degrees. No mods bone stock rig. Ford replaced the long block under warranty. Crank pulley set at top dead center this iis a pic of how the cam gear sat.

This is why you have a warranty.
