Just Talking Trucks & Trailers.

We're picking up a new vintage styled travel trailer soon. Originally planned to pull it locally to vintage shows and meets with Hayride. Planned to pull it across country with my Tacoma - daily driver. We want to see all 48 states. The boss(wife) wants to know why I need two trucks in the garage. "Why can't you be happy with one?" Man thing Honey, you wouldn't understand. But... Hayrides great gas mileage of probably 11mpg, empty, downhill with the wind is argument one. All the bells and whistles in the Tacoma for hours on the road is argument two. Question: How for would you venture away from your fully equipped garage, pulling a trailer with your truck?

I would venture as far as needed in my dent... operative word "needed". If I needed to hook up the dent and haul a trailer cross country I would. That would not be my choice travelling for fun with my wife though. Not hers either. I could and would hook up the Durango and go.

Of all the trucks I've driven (I have a list of them if anyone really cares), my dent is the one I'd choose to drive anywhere on Earth. I'd pack a spare 5 gallon gas can, a whole bunch of tools in a portable box, a sparce ICM and pick up coil and hit the road in a heartbeat.

For towing and keeping the significant other happy, I use my 2001 SuperCrew... air, cruise, ABS, 4WD, power windows, sunroof, etc.

my 1978 f250 would fire up and go. Spare belts. oil, fulepump, starter, cap and rotor, coil, pickup coil, fuel line, tools, test light, hose clamps, fuses, and plenty of other stuff., mine goes on trips of 500-600 miles/day. empty hauling or towing, over the most rugged mountain passes ...... anywhere. tmeyer 400 c6 I built myself and all. 9-12 mpg from a AC cruise f250 4x4 xlt camper special 410 gears weighing in at 6800# winch, bumper, flatbed, dual tanks.

I would get in my 79 bronco or 79 f150 now with eirher 14' or 18' camper and drive from Wy to Mi everyday of the week.

Tools to bring.....I have a 6x6x12" plastic tool box with whaterver crap I can fit in it and a DVM.

These trucks are very reliable.
