Piecing Together E99 Conversion to L99

Warning: This is a 2-3 year Project

Hey guys,

Im going to try to piece together the RiffRaff Conversion kit, but try to save money where I can.
I was wondering if you guys can confirm if im missing anything.

Short List Reasons for the Conversion:
- E99 Up-pipes have a leak
- Some small oil coming from the OEM pedestal (found after washing engine bay).
- Turbo life could be degraded with an exposed air intake box. Confirmed with my grandfather its been that way for "awhile". Air box already replaced.
- Live in California, anything that doesn't resemble stock gets flagged during Smog.
- Horsepower goals are only 400hp
- Daily Driver only, but Tow once a year
- E99 Conversion with individual part purchase, is potentially cheaper then T4 and RiffRaff Kit
- I can work on installing HPX and FRx at the same time everything on top is taken apart.

If im not mistaken, I can save money by buying:
- Ford Stock Intake Plenums Manifold (should be strong enough for 400hp)
- larger market for 99.5 Bellowed Up-Pipes (RiffRaff International are pretty expensive)

Purchasing the other individual parts from RiffRaff
Garret Non-EBPV/Blank Pedestal 99.5 - $124
https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/garre...estal-99-5-03/
Garrett GTP38 High Flow Outlet - $79
https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/garre...h-flow-outlet/
Garrett Compressor Housing Outlet O-Ring 99.5 $5

Turbo Compressor Housing Outlet V-Band Clamp 99.5 $8
https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/turbo...clamp-99-5-03/
Complete CAC IC Boot Kit 99.5 (3.25” or 3”) $128

Stainless Steel T-Bolt Boot Clamps (3.25” or 3.5”) $4

Turbo Pedestal Bolt Kit 99.5 $10
https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/turbo...t-kit-99-5-03/
Turbo Re-Install Kit $11
https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/turbo...all-kit-99-03/
Boost Gauge Parts:
AIH Delete Tapped Plug $11
AIH Mechanical Boost Tube $5
Air Intake Heater Plug Code Eliminator $13

If anyone is selling a "rebuilt" GPT38R, I have a feeling they don't have a clue what they are talking about.

The GTP38R likely costs more to rebuild than get a new one, and I sure would not be buying a ceramic ball bearing turbo on craigslist. The stock turbo is a completely different story and can be rebuilt pretty cheaply.

HD Rider will get you started. Go to the salvage yard and pick everything up pretty cheap. I don't see any 38R turbo's out there rebuild. They have to go back to the factory to be done right. Stock late model yes. But change the wheel, like Clay's 4x4 wheel and you will be golden.

Just curious what you guys think of this Super Cheap Bellowed Up-Pipes?
Amazon Bellowed Up Pipes Amazon Bellowed Up Pipes

A few people reviewed them already this year. Not expecting an easy install, but...

With the Money saved, I could find a shop to ceramic them for extra protection long term.

What do you think? 'Super cheap' scares me away from everything. In spite of all that verbiage I see two important words missing....stainless steel. At that price what do you expect?

Your signature says E99, the Amazon link says 99-03…my guess is they’re L99. I would spend the $400 on Clay’s Bellowed that you KNOW fit, skip the ceramic and wrap them with exhaust wrap and metal zip ties. If you coat them and they don’t fit now you’re out $100…plus your time dicking around with cheap Chinese crap. My .02

Im converting to L99 so I believe these will be the right fit. May not be the best product... but should fit for the conversion.
