3G conversion... not going as planned

So I know there's a ton of threads on this subject but I thought out might be quicker to just reach out instead of search for days! I've got a 94 F150 with the 4.9. I went to the pull and pay this weekend, found a 3G (130A) out of a Taurus with wiring and set out to do the conversion. Here is the issue... the ears on the 3G are directly across from each other and on the factory unit they are at like 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock (ish). Is it possible to still use the 3G or am I out $30? Will cutting the mounting bracket do any good? I'm pissed at myself for not checking where the factory one was mounted so I'm hoping some one can bail me out. Thanks for any info you guys ccan share

Is this what you need to do?

Thank you for your suggestion Franklin2, I actually did try re-clocking it. I only moved it one "space" over so maybe I need to go one more time. It seems to me that one of the large "ears" on the alternator is hitting part of the mounting bracket and not allowing it to roll in to the bracket far enough to reach the upper hole.

It won't work, your 2 G alternator has the weird 6 and 2 mounting tabs and the Taurus is 6 and 12.

Damn, I was afraid of that. Is there another solution? Is there a 3G with the 6 and 2 tabs? Or maybe a different mounting bracket from an earlier year model 4.9? I should've know it was to good to be true!

Thanks for the info! Any idea what year E Van might have one of those in a 130a version? Call me a cheapskate but I don't mind getting my hands dirty to save some money! There's a pull and pay five minutes from my house and I'm always looking for an excuse to head down there!

Look at the screenshot I posted. Has all the years at the bottom. The e series only got the 95 amp alternator. Check www.row52.com and you should be able to locate a yard.

Awesome! Sorry about that, I see it there now. I know I saw a couple of those vans down there this last weekend, maybe I can get the yard to let me exchange the one I got for one of those. Thanks again for the info!
