Bed vs Bed

What's the difference other than length between these two beds. The white truck bed seems taller than the cream colored truck.

Good to see you back here Swoosh. The top pic long box IS a taller box and is also wider at 54 13/16" instead of the short box being 49 13/16". No parts of the long box are reproduced including the side step. The wood you could buy in bulk and router to fit the stainless stripes yourself. You should be able to buy the stainless stripes for a lonbox as the " other brand GM" had them in the 60's.

Hey Ranger, I thought I could see a difference in the height. It doesn't seem like much.

1957/72 F100/250 with 8' bed, tailgate is 54 13/16" wide.

I have never noticed any difference in height until today. Definitely would have never known the width differences and tail gates. Always good to know. Thanks Bill, you're always right on top of it.

The black "61" says 4 inch lift and 39.5" tires. How can that be?

It actually is quite a bit. Looks ok on a long box 4x4 but stupid on a short box. If you look at your short box pic visualize the top of the 45 degree lip as being the top of the box edge BEFORE the 45 degree bend is added. The top edge of the bulk head is at the bottom of the window seal.

That's probably about right, not much clearance at the back fenders though. I think you'll find guys running 35 or 36" tires on stock F250 4x4s. With the large radius front fenders there was lots of room up front for big tires.
How's your truck coming along?

Bed vs Bed

Completely rebuilt front and rear axles. 4" lift. Stainless brake lines. New booster and MC. Changing the bed to a flareside. Ran into some clearance issues. 4.5" rear flip hangers are in the mail. Bought a bunch of new stuff. Working my way up! Thanks for asking. Found a deal on large radius fenders. Coming soon.

Looking good. Do you have a bed yet and are you keeping the 117" WB?

I debated whether or not to put any lift in mine but ended up buying the heaviest stock front springs available for a late 70's F150 4x4. Hopefully it'll be a little higher than a stock 66 F100 and look good with 31" tires. My plan is to try and keep the rear tires tucked inside the fenders on my styleside bed.

Probably a good idea to keep those wheels inside.
I picked up a used bed, tailgate. Bought new fenders.

I have new rear fenders now.

Cut foam for a seat.

Electric knife,Hot wire,Cut off wheel for shaping.

Has the Cog and Lightning logo.

New core support and floor pans.

Glad to hear you are converting to Flareside. Somewhere on my other computer I have some pics of long box Flaresides that I looked at here. It will show the height difference and the inside wheel well bulge. As I said before they look great on a longbox 4x4 and I have seen some awesome short box ones too.

Here is a stolen pic off the net that shows the long box "wing tips" at the same height as the bottom of the window.

Long box as indicated by the stake pocket above the centre of the wheel well.

Here is your short box dream except paint her black
