Axle U-bolt torque

Currently doing an axle swap. In my manual it says the torque value is 45-60 ft.lbs for the axle/leaf spring u-bolts. (If i'm reading it correctly or the right chart.) Is this correct? Bolts are 1/2"x20.
Thanks.

Yes, that's right. Be sure to recheck the torque once or twice after driving. They loosen up a little at first sometimes.

Thanks. For some reason I thought they would be higher.

I think they have more stretch to them than most bolts, so maybe that's why it's lower.

They sure will be if you take it to a shop. They reef them down pretty good, because nobody can be bothered with returning for torque checks every 500 miles till they stabilize. Notice they don't have cotter pins or anything like that, they are rolled, not cut, threads that deform. Do a little 4-wheelin' and get off camber and re-torque. Keep checking every 500 say, till they don't move anymore.
