Stupid question

What is this? It's a vacuum actuated control for a vent door in the blower enclosure. What activates it? Where does the vacuum line run to? I can only trace the line into the blower box without taking the whole damn mess apart? The door that it activates lead into the cabin. There doesn't appear to be any vacuum at in the inlet for it

That is for recirc air when you set the a/c control to max. The vac hose for that is white and is in the harness with the wires for the blower motor and such. Yours probably broke off inside the harness.

Mine broke off too. It is strange that when I pulled the tape off the wires/hose the part protected by the tape was in perfect shape. Made it easy to attach a repair hose.

STUPIDER QUESTION

Does it only work with A/C? Any heat or defrost function?

Don't know as I'm not sure mine even works. My truck never had A/C, just heat, and it has one. I thought it was to operate the mixer door to mix outside air with heated air to set the air temp in the cab.

ok thx, I get heat and defrost. It just doesn't roast you out of the cab like it should. Motor temp is plenty hot, btw.maybe its letting in outside air.
