What shocks to get
Its time to replace the shocks on the Ex (2005 6.0). It has Modded V & modded B springs. When we installed the ne springs th front was a little low so we added a leaf from the old rear springs to the front. I would like to put Bilstiens but not sure what to get. Can any of you help me with what the correct shocks to order. Thanks Billy

I used F250 shocks from the same year on my 2000 with leveled V, modded C’s. Not exactly your set up.
How do your measurements match up with those here?

When I got my new springs I also got Bilstein shocks meant for the F250, but I think my front ones are toast after only a year. I think I over extended them while on some twisty off roading this summer. They aren’t compressing anymore, they feel like 20 year old shocks. I’m going to order some Ranchos RS9000xl for an Ex with a 4” lift. Getting the ones with the extra lift will also help when I have the rear bags aired up.

Changing to another manufacturer without correctly sizing for your application will result in the same failure under the same circumstances. What springs do you have? Did you not like the ride quality of the Bilsteins? I am in the market, and have not been happy with Ranchos in the past.

Okay, good to know. I'm planning on a different route, ProComp springs possibly with Bilstein 5125s. The latter are a little stiffer than the 4600s in compression, less so in rebound.
