Oil life guage

Quick question, on my 2014 I had an option the showed oil life, on my 2017 lariat I’m not able to see it and only see oil life in the monthly email. Anyone know if it is there or if I can enable it in forscan?

Gassers can see oil life. PSD’s cannot.

The gas trucks use basically a day / mileage countdown timer to determine oil life. Diesel trucks use the "intelligent" oil minder which is based on many things including idling vs highway time, speed, engine oil temps, miles / days, number of regenerations, etc. Since this oil life percent remaining might "change" if you are suddenly doing a lot of highway driving or suddenly idling a lot...Ford simply doesn't display it. You'll still get the warning when its time to change...

And you can use Forscan to display the oil life PID as well. The truck will also give you two warnings, “change oil soon”, and “change oil now”. Soon is 1000 miles notice, change oil now is about 150 mile IIRC.

I've never seen the "soon" on the 2017+ models. Just the "required."

Mine has roughly a 10k oil life according to forscan. I change around 7500 though.

The truck is so tall, I can fit a 5 gallon gas can direftly below the drain clock to catch the dirty oil. Oil changes couldn't be much easier.

Thanks all, I will jump on forscan and see if I can find it, I understand that it will vary based on driving but liked having the knowledge when planning trips etc...

The Ford Pass app shows oil life left. I'm not sure if it works with the lariat but should work with any truck running sync 3.

The fordpass app is hit or miss on if it works. I got it to run once in October of 2017. Have never been able to get it to report out since.

My 2019 PSD platinum shows oil life under the Advanced options on the information display. You have to be stopped to enter that menu but it does show the % of oil life left. It also has the oil life percentage on the app on my phone.

Weird. I've never had an issue with it. Always shows correct fuel amount so I'm assuming that the oil life percentage is correct too.

Your truck Emails you? Whaaaaat?

My odometer is all I need for oil changes...I just reset the reminder whenever it shows up and forget about it

Where on the Ford Pass app are you guys seeing the oil life? I don't even see where it would be an option.
