GT40 Cast Upper Intake Manifold Mated with 460 Upper Intake Manifold?
Ok so my question is how hard would it be to mount the "elbow" upper manifold off a 460 onto a 302/351w "GT40" upper manifold from a Explorer?
I'm just kinda curious right now, but when I go to do my 387w build I might go that route for the intake just for the WTH is that factor. I guessing the hardest part would be matching the bolt holes (solved by a custom spacer plate) and lining up the airways, which could be solved by some porting and having the spacer custom made to line up the airways in a laminar fashion.

There were/are several companies that made an adapter for existing 5.0 uppers that would turn the throttle body at a 90* to 45* angle in order to fit SN95 Mustangs.
No need to go with the 460 part.
Pretty sure you could use the one on 96, 97 Explorer adapter. I might have one to show you.

The 460's upper intake manifold isn't like the Windsor intakes at all. It's a small square pattern - like a carb. The 460 upper intake is hollow with no real runners, as the runners are in the lower intake on the 460. You would have to build some big goofy box to adapt the square pattern to the huge rectangular pattern on the 351 lower. It'd basically function has a plenum, giving your engine the short little 3-4" runners that are in the lower. You'd lose a lot of low end torque, and it just likely wouldn't run right.

Coanski is right, I'm talking about mounting the 460 "upper intake plenum" to the throttle body surface of a GT40 style upper intake manifold.
Only way it might work now that I have done some reading is fully port both the GT40 upper and lower and the 460 upper, remove the divider on the inside of the 460 upper, mod the TB mounting surface to accommodate two mustang single barrel TBs.
