Crap gas milage
Hello,
Im new here. I love this site and it has helped me a lot.
So I am just going to jump into this.
1990 Ford F350 4 door 460 5 speed I am thinking it has 187K on it. But that is not for sure.
I am getting 6 mpg smells very rich at idle. Power is okay I guess I can feel the boat back there and lack of power, I have not owned a 460 before bought it to tow a 22 foot boat. The wife took over the navigator and told me to get a truck so I did. I am going to list new parts.
New Distributer, new fuel pump and side tank, map sensor, both temp sensors. plugs, wires, IAC valve, all smog deleted pump still there. new egr valve, new O2 sensor as well. TPS new, Fuel press reg is also new and no sign of leaking. Also new coil with very nice blue spark.
No codes. Timing is at 13BTC yes spout was pulled and installed when done.
The wife and I took the truck out and went 126 miles on 19 gallons of fuel. Switched tanks and went 57 miles on half the rear tank. I can tell you I am not happy with this truck I can be very happy with 10mpg. But 6 is bad and this was empty. Honestly was wanting more out of the 460.
Truck runs great starts every time. Puffs very little smoke when you take off from red light or stop sign.
I am looking for some guidance on this gents. Truck is down now for new clutch and t-case rebuild. I am thinking the only thing left is to replace all 8 injectors the look bad and rusted. I have ran the truck and unplugged each injector and the truck gives me a miss. So all 8 are firing. I bought the truck after reading on how they are work horses and people pulling 10,000lbs with them. But when I hook up 3800lbs I can feel it. Takes a lot more to get her moving. Compression check gave me between 130 to 138 at 1 cylinder at 128. I do understand she is tired but not rebuild tired.
Please help.
If this is the wrong place to post. Sorry

I recall reading this at a barbershop magazine rack around 2000.
