Wish me luck, I’m off to CT…

going to be heading to CT on the 4th, leaving around 7:00pm and hoping to miss all the “rush hour traffic and have minimal cars on the road as I drive…

Hauling anything or just the truck?

How far is the drive?

Returning back to the origination spot soon or staying in CT for a while?

Good luck, be safe.

How far is the drive? About 11 hour drive time minus any stops I take for sleep/nap

Returning back to the origination spot soon or staying in CT for a while? Possibly one last time to collect any thing not removed by the movers on first run or me on second run

Good luck, be safe.

0300 is an ideal time to be passing through NYC. Once you are beyond it in the AM you will be fine. Rush hour starts around 0500 like Mark mentioned and is very painful.

I personally prefer to use the Tappanzee (sp?) than using the GW. It just seems to flow better at all hours, however it has been years since I've been there and I don't know what the current construction situation is.

Well when I leave tomorrow I’ll be sure to post throughout the journey to keep everyone up-to-date as to where I Matt just in case if something happens in hopes that the brotherhood might be close enough by to help out if the unfortunate events might occur, which I do not foresee it happening but you never know

EDIT: decided to leave early on the 5th around 5:00 am

Well as of 20:30 (-ish) I successfully made it to the new house, now it’s a matter of moving the last pieces in…

Where's the new house?

Welcome to "up here", it's the perfect time to arrive. You'll hate yourself in 4-5 months, and again in July when the property tax bills arrive, but that's later...

not sure how specific you are asking for, but we are in Stamford, about 2 miles from the train station on buckingham drive

I was looking for "Stamford". I'm in Middletown right in, well, the middle of the State. Lime Rock one hour and fifteen, Palmer Motorsports Park 1:15, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park 1:15, New Hampshire Motor Speedway right at 3:00...Watkins Glen 5.5 hours on a good afternoon.

Stamford is a good place, right around everything, easy Metro North ride to the City, on the water so winters aren't that hateful (it gets worse above the Merritt Parkway). Property taxes...well...

As far as property taxes, I bought enough krisco (so?) so we should be ok there.

as for winters if it gets bad enough I may sell the mustang ( even though I would hate to do so) and kook into something like a Jeep (would rather a hard top CJ series) with 4X4

I’ve been in the wilds of NY for a while, glad you made it past NYC with no horror stories. From the south to CT should provide a bit of culture shock and excitement for you. Hope you like it.
